Electronics Engineer: Job Purpose
He will report to the Head of Maintenance and provide preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for all audio, video, and transmission systems.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Responsible for the engineering, technology and troubleshooting of live and tape-delay, remote broadcasts using various video and networking equipment from on-site venues.
Determine cause of broadcast system failures and coordinate repair in a timely manner.
Monitor and maintain the performance of all broadcasting systems to ensure their continuous operation.
Set up, operate and maintain professional video equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair all cable and broadcast systems in the control room and at locations, over the phone, or from a remote computer.
Understand cable, broadcast and advertising insertion system performance specifications perform tests, and repair equipment with minimal supervision.
Understand the reception and broadcast of all programming types including satellite, broadcast, and local origination.
Ability to manipulate connectors, fasteners and wire, and use hand tools and power tools.
Work closely with the appropriate internal departments.
Produce timely and accurate reports.
Communicate effectively and professionally
Knowledge, skills, training and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or combination of academic and professional experience
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of broadcast maintenance experience
Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment and facilities
In depth technical knowledge of switches, routers, audio, cameras, visual, graphic and other systems used in television facilities
Willing and able to work required weekend shifts and after hours coverage; schedule may vary and be based upon the channel needs.
