Editor in chief vacancy in Qatar Media Corporation

Editor in chief: Core responsibilities

Oversee the newscasts and programs content for overall fairness, balance and accuracy

Ensure that editorial priorities are delivered on a daily basis

Create an editorial vision for bulletins and shows which supports the channel strategy

Support content distribution to online channels and social media platforms
Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw audience’s attention

Supervise and provides training, mentoring, critiquing and evaluations of the editorial staff

Set goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team
Arrange effective communication with other departments on all aspects of coverage

Work with channel management to innovate and effect change

Develop content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing targets

Other Duties

Represents the channel at various national or international meetings and committees

Contribute to the development of the channel content strategy

Strong writing skills

Strong editorial judgment skills

Solid decision-making skills

Proven track record for getting results on initiatives

Creative vision and plan for content

Great people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating

Computer and media asset management systems

Knowledge

Fluency in English

Wide, up to date knowledge of news, documentaries and magazine shows
In-depth knowledge of local and international current affairs, history and newsmakers

Experience
Minimum of 10 years related experience including at least 3 years in news management

Experience in social media and digital platforms management is an advantage

Education

Minimum Bachelor degree in journalism or in a related field
