🔧 JOB DESCRIPTION – QA/QC PAINTING INSPECTOR
Position: QA/QC Painting Inspector
Location: RLIC (Ras Laffan Industrial City), Qatar
Duration: 3–6 Months
Industry: Oil & Gas / Petrochemical
Certification: BGAS / NACE Certified

📋 Key Responsibilities
Carry out inspection and quality control of painting and coating activities in accordance with approved project specifications, ITPs, procedures and applicable standards.
Inspect surface preparation and cleaning before application of protective coating systems.
Verify blasting/abrasive cleaning activities and ensure the required surface cleanliness and surface profile are achieved.
Check and record ambient/environmental conditions including temperature, relative humidity and dew point before and during coating application.
Inspect coating materials, including product identification, batch numbers, shelf life, mixing ratio and storage conditions.
Monitor correct mixing, thinning, application and curing of paints/coating systems.
Perform and record Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements as required.
Conduct visual inspection of completed coating surfaces for runs, sags, pinholes, blistering, cracking, dry spray, contamination and other defects.
Carry out or coordinate required coating tests such as holiday detection, adhesion testing and other applicable inspection tests.
Verify that coating application complies with the approved coating system, manufacturer recommendations and project specifications.
Inspect repaired or recoated areas and ensure all coating defects are properly rectified.
Ensure proper surface preparation, stripe coating and number of coating layers are completed as specified.
Review painting/coating activities against approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements and Quality Control procedures.
Coordinate with QA/QC Engineers, Construction Teams, Coating Supervisors, Client/Consultant Inspectors and Third-Party Inspectors.
Raise inspection requests and coordinate inspection and acceptance with the client/consultant.
Identify non-conformities and assist in the preparation and closure of NCRs, punch lists and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate inspection records, including DFT reports, environmental condition reports, surface preparation records and coating inspection reports.
Review relevant coating documentation, inspection reports, material certificates and test records.
Ensure all inspection activities are properly documented and traceable for the final QA/QC dossier.
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with project quality requirements and HSE procedures.
Participate in quality meetings, inspection coordination and site walkdowns when required.
Ensure painting and coating works are carried out safely and in compliance with applicable Oil & Gas site HSE requirements.
🎯 Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Painting/Coating Inspector.
Previous experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG or similar industrial projects is required.
Valid BGAS / NACE certification is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of protective coating and painting inspection practices.
Good understanding of surface preparation, abrasive blasting and coating application.
Experience with DFT/WFT measurement and coating inspection/testing.
Familiarity with ITP, Method Statements, inspection requests, NCRs and QA/QC documentation.
Ability to read and understand coating specifications, procedures and technical documents.
Familiarity with relevant international coating/painting standards and project specifications.
RLIC / Qatar Oil & Gas experience will be an advantage.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently in a site-based Oil & Gas environment.
