Linum Consult’s client operates out of the Middle East. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Transport Planning Expert with particular experience in First and Last Mile solutions to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting the Director of Transport Planning to identify various strategies to provide and improve First and Last Mile access to metro, tram, and commuter rail stations, based on local conditions
Planning of first and last mile services/infrastructure, including market assessments, concept studies, user analyses, cost-benefit analyses, etc.
Assisting in the ongoing management and refinement of first and last mile services
Coordinating and interfacing with Service Delivery Departments
Preparing mobility plans for the station catchment areas; identifying pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure gaps and remedial measures
Assisting in the development and evaluation of pilot studies for FMLM solutions and participating in public outreach programmes to gauge usability
Conducting survey designs and their implementation

PROFILE

A Bachelor’s degree qualification in Urban Planning or Civil Engineering, ideally with a master’s degree in Transportation Planning or Engineering
At least 10 years’ experience within a consultancy transportation planning role, with demonstrable knowledge of First Mile and Last Mile solutions
General knowledge in all fields of public transport planning, ideally with specialised knowledge of planning first and last mile journeys around railway or metro stations
Knowledge and experience of the economic aspects, CAPEX and OPEX of FMLM solutions, with any experience of simulation models for rail-bound public transport an added bonus
Ideally have experience with simulation models for rail-bound and other public transport
