Health and Safety Officer
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Health and safety officer will be performing various functions to instill a positive health and safety culture in the work environment. These shall include but not limited to;
Monitoring work processes and procedures to identify unsafe behaviors or breach of safety regulations
Conducting equipment inspection to ensure they are correctly installed and operational
Conducting HSE inspections and audits, following up on corrective actions whilst documenting findings
Enforcing the use of specific PPEs for specific tasks
Preparing and sharing monthly departmental performance updates for specific areas
Issuing a permit-to-work for various non-routine high risk activities
Conducting risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk of operational hazard and proposing effective controls
Raising HSE non-conformities and following up for quick redress
Liaising with heads of department, foremen, supervisors, contractors etc. to ensure good housekeeping is maintained across the factory
REQUIREMENTS
Diploma or Degree in occupational safety, health or environment management or related field NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety 2-3 years of professional experience preferably in the steel manufacturing environment
Working Experience: 3 – 5 Years
Education: Diploma
