The Upholstery Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of our upholstery department, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality upholstered furniture and furnishings. The Upholstery Supervisor will lead a team of upholsterers and craftsmen, guiding them through each stage of the upholstery process from fabric selection to final finishing. The Upholstery Supervisor’s expertise will be crucial in maintaining product standards, meeting production schedules, and ensuring client satisfaction.
The Upholstery Supervisor will also be responsible for traveling to different sites and locations to liaise with clients as needed and should always maintain good customer relations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of upholsterers and craftsmen in the upholstery department.
- Interpret design specifications and customer orders to guide the upholstery process.
- Ensure accurate measurement, cutting, and fitting of fabrics, leather, and padding materials.
- Oversee the assembly and finishing of upholstered furniture, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship.
- Work in hand to lead, train and mentor upholsterers and craftsmen to enhance their skills and productivity.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to streamline processes and improve product quality.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and serve as the primary point of contact for communication, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving concerns effectively.
- Travel to various sites and locations as required to oversee work progress, and to liaise with the clients.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust workforce and resources to meet deadlines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Upholstery Supervisor or similar role in the furniture manufacturing or upholstery industry.
- In-depth knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, fabrics, and sewing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret design sketches, measurements, and technical specifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality upholstered products.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in upholstery and furniture manufacturing.
- Certification or formal training in upholstery, furniture making, or related fields is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in upholstery or furniture design is a plus.
