Performs the full range of repair and modification work on light vehicles powered by internal combustion engines & gear boxes.
Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
Accurately troubleshoots, isolates, and identify faults of cars systems.
Test components and systems, using equipment such as compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
Repairs, relines, replaces, and adjusts.
Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
Follows repair procedures, using charts, and technical manuals.
Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Has knowledge about all light vehicles (Asian, American, European)
Qualifications
Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Apprenticeship in Light Automobile Repair, Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred.
Experience:
At minimum Two (2) years’ experience as an automotive maintenance mechanic.
Training in small engine maintenance and repair preferred.
Skills:
Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Familiar with the usage of computer based technical manuals preferred.
The ability to troubleshoot, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
English proficiency Reading & Speaking Level 1, Writing Level 1.
Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.
Must exercise discretion and good sound judgment.
Capable of performing work while wearing personnel protective equipment.
Working Environment:
Work is generally conducted in a shop environment; however, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions.
