Safety Officer

 Job brief

This position is Safety Officer which will facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. You will provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations. You will also be on a constant lookout for violations. You will be a responsible individual who swears by OSH regulations. Your work will be largely focused on prevention and correction, so you need to be conscientious and farsighted. The ideal candidate will also be detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies. The goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of OHS policies and programs

• Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery, material to be used on the site, maintenance of firefighting and fire alarm equipment etc.)

• Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures

• Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation

• Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives

• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)

• Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc

.• Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy

• Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims

• Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

.• Direct the modification, installation, maintenance and operation of the fire protection system

.• Review construction site plans and tenant fit-out plans for compliance with fire protection codes and local standards.

• Provides technical advice to contractors, site engineers while reviewing system plans monitoring code information and conducting site inspections for new shops fit-out work.

• Support the top management in the HSE Policy and Guidelines issue

• Supports the top management in the organization roles and responsibilities definition for what concerns safety aspects

.• Supports the top management in the HSE management system standard issue.

• Provides for motivation and familiarization of all company personnel respecting the importance of complying with company system procedures and all safety equipment provided.

• Assist all other departments in their dealings with clients and contractors in all issue concerned with Health and Safety at work

• Carry out in-house safety training.

Skills & Experience

Work experience: Minimum 1 year

Educational background: Bachelor’s Degree

Profession: Engineering

Professional qualification: safety-related qualifications

Gender: Male
