Job Summary:

Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles in recording transactions, analyzing financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensuring implementation of appropriate accounting control procedures, processing day-to-day transactions and submitting deliverables in the appointed time.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performs accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close process reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Compiles data and prepares a variety of reports, as required by management or as requested by others within the organization, aided by the company’s accounting system, such as Tally Accounting System.
  • Verifies the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records.
  • Reviews accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions entered by other accountants (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, and accounts payable).
  • Prepares necessary journal entries to properly state general ledger balances.
  • Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers, as in the case of receivables, payables and the like.
  • Investigates questionable data submitted for processing by different departments.
  • Reconciles various balance sheet accounts and follows up on unexpected or aged activity. Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies, as necessary.
  • Performs ad-hoc audit procedures of account activities (e.g., cash count, inventory count).
  • Provides assistance with the annual audit by external auditors.
  • Records payments based on the summaries prepared by the Cashier and the Bank Statement.
  • Processes refunds, returned checks and bad debts.
  • Participates in special projects and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with stakeholders inside and outside the Finance Department.
  • Escalates accounting-related issues appropriately when needed and follows established policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the development and documentation of key accounting processes and controls.
  • Reads, uses and is familiar with computer systems manuals and procedures, maintains and suggests updates to procedural manuals as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains retention of accounting files for required period of time.

Education/Qualification
• University degree in Business Administration with specialization in accounting, finance or in related area.
• Bi-lingual (Arabic and English) is preferred

• Valid Qatar Residence Permit/Work visa is a must

Experience & Knowledge
• 3-4 years relevant experience, preferably in similar industry
• Knowledge in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
