OB VAN Engineer Jobs Purpose:

Reports to Head of OB and is responsible for managing and monitoring the technical functions of OB Vans at remote events. He will supervise the normal maintenance activities of the OB Van.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Setting up OB Van equipment for Live and Recording video broadcast production in accordance to the Production Requirements.

Installing and testing new facilities and equipment related to Video
Analyzing and basic troubleshooting technical faults on equipment and systems

Minimizing loss of service when equipment fails by quickly identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision

Developing and using awareness of best practice in health and safety for the workplace

Interpreting and implementing instructions and requests from producers, directors and other colleagues

Communicating effectively with members of the team and other colleagues
Often working within live production environments, OB Van Engineer must be calm under pressure, have excellent time management skills and the ability to recall extensive technical knowledge quickly.

OB Van Engineer must be detail-oriented in order to identify and prevent potential technical issues. He must be able to prioritize and shift work priorities quickly, maintaining flexibility and quick response time.

He must be able to solve complex problems in a timely manner.

Knowledge, skills, training and experience

Experience of the above Responsibilities mentioned is a plus.

Must have a Bachelors Degree major in Electronics and Communications or its equivalent.

Experience working in Outside Broadcast Van or related environment minimum 5 years

Experience with broadcast standards especially HD/3G/4k-SDI, PAL
Candidate must be self-motivated and able to carry a challenge through to completion without supervision

Experience installing and upgrading Broadcast equipment to improve workflows

Ability to document and read schematics and drawings

Experience in Multinational environment with strong communication and interpersonal skills

Candidate must be able to work long hours and on-call basis (short notice)
Must be available for shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Expect to work in different weather conditions and locations. Experience in these kinds of situations is a plus.
