Practical professional experience for 22 years; as a private laboratory director for the first 3 years, then as a laboratory & blood bank director in private hospitals in various areas in Lebanon; then 2 years in Qatar, with main interests and expertise in blood banking &apheresis medicine, autoimmune laboratory diagnostics , molecular diagnostics & cytogenetics.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & ACHIEVEMENTS
1st November 2023- now : Laboratory & Blood Bank director – Saydet Zgharta University Medical Center
– Auto-evaluation of Laboratory & Blood Bank departments , under Lebanese ministry of health hospital accreditation requirements .
– Implementation of new types of tests and methods ( Urea Breath test )
– Ordering and bringing back-up analyzers for all automated tests in the laboratory ( hematology & coagulation analyzers validated , chemistry and Immunology still in process )
– Continuous Medical Education activities to Nursing and medical staff concerning blood transfusion workflow updating ; followed by regular auditing activities .
– Director of hospital transfusion committee
– Regular In-service meetings including CME and discussion of various work-related topics .
1st September 2021 – 31st August 2023 : Laboratory & Blood Bank Director – Aman Hospital – Doha – Qatar
– Setting up a fully automated , state of the art medical Laboratory from scratch , including analyzers & staffing selection , location management
– Writing and Implementing laboratory policies and procedures , under JCI and CAP standards.

– New blood bank project proposal to the hospital general direction , under new Lebanese comity of blood transfusion guidelines
– Direction of the hospital blood transfusion comity
– Performance of therapeutic apheresis procedures ( Plasmapheresis , RBC exchange ), for various types of disorders , under American Society For Apheresis guidelines.
– Continuous update of various blood bank procedures based on AABB & Lebanese Comity of Blood Transfusion recommendations.
– Implementation of new tests ( ANA & ANCA by Immunofluorescence )
– Validation & Implementation of a new “Molecular Diagnostics” Section in the laboratory, in which PCR tests include but “not restricted to” :
A- FMF, Thrombophilia panel, HLA-B27, HBV, HIV, HCV , JAK2 mutations.
B- Multiplex PCR ( Respiratory , CSF , STD )
C- COVID-19 ( Recognized by MOPH as one of reference laboratories in North Lebanon for that test )
